Vehicle Dealers International (VDI) is the sole Australian distributor of Yutong buses. In Western Australia, VDI operates both the Perth IVECO dealership and Yutong Bus Centre WA, providing industry-leading sales, service, and parts support to commercial transport operators across the state.  

About the Role 

As an Automotive Electrician, you will play a crucial role in the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems within our vehicles. Your expertise will ensure the smooth functioning of electrical components, ranging from lighting systems to advanced vehicle control systems. You’ll work on a diverse range of heavy vehicles and equipment, including emerging EV technology, helping ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of essential transport operations across the country. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Diagnose electrical faults using diagnostic equipment/software. 
• Repair or replace faulty wiring harnesses, connectors, switches, relays, etc. 
• Install new electrical components such as audio systems, lighting accessories or security systems. 
• Conduct regular maintenance checks on vehicle electronics. 
• Test repaired/replaced components to ensure proper functioning. 
• Provide accurate time estimates for completion of tasks.  
• Keep up-to-date with advancements in automotive technology/electrical systems. 

 To be successful in this role, you will have: 

• Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems. 
• Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting complex electrical problems. 
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams. 
• Experience with installing aftermarket electronic accessories. 
• Familiarity with using diagnostic equipment/software. 
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. 
• Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. 
• Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with customers and team members. 
• Trade qualification as an Auto Electrician or equivalent experience is essential. 
• Minimum 2 years of experience working as an Auto Electrician in the automotive industry. 
• Valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of relevant electrical regulations and safety standards. 
• Additional certifications or training in automotive electronics will be advantageous.
