About the role
Full-time Chef position is vacant with Cowra Retirement Village Ltd, locally known as “Bilyara” in Cowra NSW, 2794. Minimum 38 hours per week on a permanent basis.
Cowra Retirement Village is a community owned, not for profit organisation committed to providing the highest standard of care to our residents in a comfortable home like setting. You will work as part of the facilities and catering team. You will be supported by our Head Chef and by a professional management team and a committed resident centred board.
Located in the vibrant regional township of Cowra NSW, the organisation has 84 residential beds including a 14-bed secured dementia unit and is one of the largest employers in the area with over 162 employees.
Job Responsibilities:
You will be assisting the Head Chef in managing the kitchen operations, ensuring smooth, efficient delivery and excellent dinning experience.
Preparing food and cooking a high-quality dish in accordance with the menu that has been selected by our residents during residents committee meeting.
Collaborate with the Head Chef and the Facilities Manager to develop new menu items and specials to that will be presented to the residents each quarter/per season.
Assist your team when needed to attend feedback and deal with residents’ complaint regarding food and service delivery if required according to the Strengthen Aged Care Quality Standard.
Maintain inventory levels and ensuring proper stock rotation.
Assist in ordering and receiving of supplies.
Keep the kitchen safe and clean by adhering to the food preparation and cleanliness rules.
Prioritise Work Health and Safety and Food Hygiene Practices.
Assist your team when needed to attend feedback and deal with residents’ complaint regarding food and service delivery if required according to the Strengthen Aged Care Quality Standard.
Requirements:
· Proven experience as a Chef, preferably in an Age Care environment and worked with Dementia unit.
· Formal culinary training and relevant qualifications as a Chef.
· A positive attitude and a passion for delivering culinary experience to the residents.
· Strong leadership skills and the ability to work well within a culinary team.
· Excellent communication and organizational skills.
· Knowledge in food and safety hygiene regulations.
· Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines to deliver timely meals to the residents.
· Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.

Required Qualification:
Diploma in Kitchen Management, Certificate IV in Kitchen as well as at least 1-year relevant experience.
Dementia Certificate is essential.
