Refrigeration Mechanic - Hume Rd, Laverton

We're seeking an experienced Refrigeration Mechanic to join our Facilities & Engineering team at our Laverton North cold storage facility.

Working with industrial refrigeration systems in a large-scale temperature-controlled environment, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our operations continue to run safely, efficiently and reliably.

About The Role

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you'll be responsible for the maintenance, monitoring and optimisation of refrigeration and facility equipment to ensure operational uptime and compliance across the site. The role involves working closely with operations teams, contractors, suppliers and site stakeholders to maintain critical refrigeration infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities Include

Conducting preventative and reactive maintenance on refrigeration plant and equipmentMonitoring and troubleshooting industrial ammonia refrigeration systemsDiagnosing mechanical and electrical faultsEnsuring plant reliability, efficiency and operational performanceCoordinating specialist contractors when requiredMaintaining accurate records through maintenance management systemsSupporting site compliance with food safety, quality and safety standardsParticipating in an on-call roster to support critical plant operations

What We're Looking For

We're interested in speaking with Refrigeration Mechanics who enjoy problem-solving, take pride in their work and are comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Ideally, You'll Bring

Refrigeration Mechanic trade qualificationExperience working with industrial refrigeration systemsExposure to ammonia refrigeration plantsStrong electrical and mechanical fault-finding capabilityExperience using CMMS or maintenance management systemsSound understanding of safe work practicesCurrent Driver's LicenceForklift and EWP licences are advantageous but not essential
