Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria’s newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges.

The Opportunity:

Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is looking for an experienced Psychosocial Health Lead to join our Health, Safety & Wellbeing team and lead the next phase of our psychosocial health and safety program.  This is a senior specialist role with genuine organisational scope.

You’ll work across clinical, operational and corporate teams to strengthen how we identify, assess and control psychosocial hazards, with a particular focus on work design, occupational violence and aggression, trauma exposure, psychological safety, early intervention and organisational wellbeing.

Rather than focusing on standalone wellbeing initiatives, this role is about building sustainable systems that prevent harm, strengthen recovery and embed psychosocial health and safety into how work is designed, led and delivered.

About the role

As Psychosocial Health Lead, you will provide specialist leadership across PYMHWS’s approach to psychological health and safety.

You will:

• Lead organisation-wide psychosocial hazard identification, risk assessment and control.

• Work with leaders, workers and Health and Safety Representatives to understand how psychosocial risks arise in practice.

• Support analysis of workload, work design, staffing, systems, organisational change and other drivers of psychosocial risk.

• Lead the development and monitoring of psychosocial risk registers, control plans and improvement actions.

• Provide specialist expertise in occupational violence, aggression and trauma-related psychosocial risk.

• Support psychologically safe work practices and organisational wellbeing initiatives.

About you

We’re looking for someone who can combine strong technical knowledge with practical organisational influence.

You will bring:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, occupational health and safety, human resources, organisational development, wellbeing or a related discipline.

• Demonstrated experience leading psychosocial hazard identification, risk assessment and control in a complex organisation.

• Strong knowledge of Victorian occupational health and safety legislation and psychosocial risk requirements.

• A strong understanding of contemporary psychosocial risk management, work design and systems-based approaches to psychological health and safety.

• Experience developing, implementing and evaluating organisational risk controls.

• Strong consultation, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.

• The ability to translate complex risk information into practical, workable solutions.

• Confidence working with senior leaders, workers, HSRs and specialist functions across an organisation.

• Sound judgement when supporting sensitive workplace matters and early intervention responses.

Experience in mental health, healthcare, community services or another high-risk human services environment would be highly regarded, as would experience in occupational violence, trauma exposure or critical incident recovery.
