Aquatic Coordinator – Yuendumu

The Opportunity:

The Y Northern Territory is currently recruiting an Aquatic Coordinator for our Yuendumu Pool.

Working with the Remote Pools Project offers a unique opportunity to live and work in a First Nations community in Top End, delivering a vital community service by providing safe swimming experiences and delivery of community-led programs that aims to improve community health and wellbeing and equip children and young people with water safety skills and knowledge to prevent drowning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all of the community.
• Lead, inspire, and develop a team of local staff and visiting volunteers to effectively deliver safe swimming experiences for the whole community, enable community-led health promotion and coordinate swimming and water safety programs.
• Design and deliver innovative aquatic and recreational programs that meet the needs of the community.
• Develop, engage, and collaborate to improve local relationships while identifying partnerships, programs, and events that may benefit the community and the Y.
• Maintain a clean, welcoming, and open environment for all members of staff and the community.
• Implement and oversee risk management strategies to ensure a safe and secure environment in accordance with relevant legislation.
• Manage financial planning, payroll, budgeting, and reporting to ensure the facility is financially stable.

Qualifications and Experience

• Current Pool Lifeguard Certificate
• Pool Technical Operator Certificate (desired)
• Current First Aid (HLTAID003 or higher) and CPR
• Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card)
• Satisfactory National Police Check
• Proven experience in aquatic operations and team leadership (3 years preferred)
• Excellent communication, organisational and mentoring skills
• Ability to engage and collaborate with diverse community groups
• Strong knowledge of aquatic safety and compliance regulations
