About the role 

People and Capability at the State Solicitors Office (the Office) is a small but dynamic team that gets a lot done and has fun doing it. We partner across the Office to develop capability, support professional growth and deliver contemporary learning experiences that help our people succeed. 

Our Learning and Development team operates in a fast-paced and evolving environment where collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement are highly valued. 

As the Senior Learning and Development Consultant, you will play a key role in shaping how our people learn, develop and grow. Working closely with senior leaders, the Learning and Development Sub-Committee and stakeholders across the Office, you will provide technical leadership and coordinate high-quality learning initiatives, programs and experiences that build workforce capability and support organisational outcomes. 

This role is both strategic and operational, providing the opportunity to shape the future of learning within the Office while remaining actively involved in the design, delivery and evaluation of learning initiatives. 

Key aspects of this role include: 

• Contributing to the development and leading the implementation of learning and development frameworks, strategies and programs that support organisational capability and contemporary learning practices. 

• Designing and delivering engaging learning experiences, including leadership development initiatives, legal Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs, bespoke learning programs and innovative e-learning solutions. 

• Leading the Office's Learning Management System and acting as the Office's Learning Manager for Skills Academy, driving capability development across the organisation. 

• Providing technical leadership to the Learning and Development team, including direct line management of a Learning and Development Officer, while fostering collaboration, continuous improvement and high-quality service delivery. 

• Contributing to the project management of the annual sector-wide legal CPD conference, including budget management and coordination with external vendors where required. 

• Building strong relationships with leaders, the Learning and Development Sub-Committee, staff and external stakeholders to deliver practical learning outcomes that support the Office's strategic priorities.

• Substantial experience as a Learning and Development professional, including designing, delivering and evaluating contemporary learning and development strategies, programs and digital learning solutions. 

• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and projects and apply a solution-focused mindset. 

• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships, influence outcomes and deliver practical solutions in a complex environment.
