Family Violence Intake and Assessment Practitioner (SR0068)

The Family Violence Intake and Assessment Practitioner provides specialist intake, assessment and support to individuals and families experiencing family violence or requiring support with child and family wellbeing. Working within The Orange Door, you will assess risk, respond to client needs and connect people with the right services to improve safety, wellbeing and outcomes.

 

 

 

• Deliver screening, intake, triage, risk assessment and crisis responses for people accessing the service.
• Develop service plans and provide coordinated referrals to appropriate support services
• Assess and prioritise risk and safety needs for women, children and families experiencing family violence
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary practitioners to support integrated service responses
• Participate in case conferences, consultation and coordinated care planning
• Support clients to navigate the broader service system and access the services they require
• Apply contemporary risk assessment frameworks and practice guidance in all aspects of service delivery
• Maintain accurate client records, case notes and data within the client management system
• Contribute to continuous improvement, reflective practice and professional development activities

 

About you

• Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or a related discipline in line with Recommendation 209 requirements
• Experience working within family violence, child and family services, community services or a related sector
• Strong understanding of family violence risk assessment, safety planning and service delivery frameworks
• Knowledge of referral pathways and support services for women, children and families experiencing family violence
• Understanding of Best Interests Principles and child-centred practice
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
• Strong communication, engagement and relationship-building skills
• Current driver's license
• Commitment to social justice and alignment with the mission and values of GSANZ

Family Violence Minimum Mandatory Qualifications under Recommendation 209

All candidates wishing to apply for this role must be able to demonstrate that they:

1. are considered EXEMPT under the policy OR
2. hold a Bachelor of Social Work or other equivalent qualification OR
3. have minimum 5 years relevant professional experience, OR a related qualification as per the mandatory minimum qualification requirements. OR
4. hold significant cultural knowledge and experience or lived experience, and have faced barriers to educational pathways

Please note that candidates wishing to enter the specialist family violence workforce via a related qualification or 5 years related professional experience pathway, OR the significant cultural knowledge and experience or lived experience pathways will be required to work towards an equivalent qualification within specified timeframes (as per the mandatory minimum qualifications policy).
