Senior Tax Accountant

We are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join our growing taxation team in Subiaco, WA. As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will take on a pivotal role in delivering high-quality tax advisory and compliance services to our diverse client base. You will be responsible for managing complex tax matters, leading junior team members, and contributing strategically to the growth and success of our taxation practice.

Key responsibilities

• 
  Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, partnerships, companies and trusts, ensuring compliance with current taxation legislation
• Provide strategic tax planning advice to clients, identifying opportunities for tax-effective strategies and efficient structuring
• Conduct tax research and analysis on complex taxation issues to support client advisory services
• Manage client relationships and liaise with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) regarding taxation matters and disputes
• Lead and mentor junior tax accountants and support staff, fostering their professional development
• Review the work of junior team members to ensure accuracy and adherence to firm standards
• Stay current with changes in taxation legislation and communicate these to relevant clients
• Contribute to the development of tax strategies and methodologies within the firm
• Assist with business development and client retention initiatives

What we're looking for

• 
  Minimum 5+ years' experience in tax accounting, preferably within an accounting firm or in-house tax function
• Comprehensive knowledge of Australian tax legislation, including income tax, GST, and superannuation
• Strong technical expertise in preparing tax returns and managing tax compliance matters
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Strong communication skills, capable of explaining complex tax concepts to clients and colleagues
• Proficiency in accounting and tax software packages (familiarity with CCH iKreate or similar platforms is advantageous)
• Professional accounting qualification such as CA, CPA or IPA, or a commitment to obtaining these qualifications
• Proven ability to manage multiple client matters and meet tight deadlines
• Leadership experience or a keen interest in developing supervisory skills
• A commitment to continuing professional development and staying abreast of tax developments
