Sonographer

About the role

As a Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations and working collaboratively with medical practitioners and other healthcare professionals. The position will involve working alongside medical practitioners and other healthcare professionals to assist in the diagnosis and monitoring of a variety of medical conditions. Depending on availability and preference, the role may be structured around part-time, full-time or flexible working arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations within your recognised scope of practice

• Operating sonographic equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images

• Assessing the motion, shape and composition of organs, tissues, blood flow and other anatomical structures

• Identifying and documenting relevant sonographic findings

• Providing preliminary findings and appropriate clinical information to referring medical practitioners

• Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and patient records

• Explaining procedures and technical information to patients in a clear and reassuring manner

• Maintaining a high standard of patient care, privacy and professionalism

• Working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team

• Maintaining appropriate infection control, safety and professional standards

About you

• An appropriate recognised qualification in Medical Sonography

• Current Australasian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR) accreditation

• Demonstrated experience working as a Sonographer

• Ability to practise confidently within their full clinical scope

• Strong technical and analytical skills

• Sound clinical judgement and decision-making skills

• Excellent attention to detail

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team

• A valid Australian driver's licence
