Driller Leading Hand (Blast Hole)

As part of this growth, we are seeking an experienced Leading Hand Driller to join our Drill & Blast team.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a safety-focused drilling professional who can lead from the front, support crew development, and consistently deliver safe and productive outcomes in a production mining environment.

About the Role

Reporting to the Drill & Blast Superintendent, you will be responsible for the safe operation of drill rigs, ensuring compliance with drill designs, maintaining equipment to a high standard, mentoring crew members, and supporting the delivery of production targets. You'll play a key role in driving safe work practices, quality outcomes, and operational excellence across our sites. 

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate and maintain production drill rigs.
• Ensure drill patterns are completed accurately and in accordance with design specifications.
• Conduct daily inspections, servicing, and basic maintenance activities.
• Diagnose drilling issues and implement effective solutions.
• Mentor and support developing drillers within the team.
• Complete drill logs, pre-starts, QC documentation, and production reporting.
• Promote and maintain strong safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, maintenance personnel, and operational teams to achieve production objectives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Essential

• Demonstrated hard rock production mining experience.
• Extensive experience operating Sandvik DPi1500 / DP1500 Top Hammer drills.
• Strong understanding of drill pattern compliance, quality control, and drilling best practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot drilling issues and identify practical solutions.
• Sound mechanical aptitude and experience conducting routine servicing and inspections.
• Current Australian Driver's Licence.
• Current National Police Clearance.
• Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Highly Regarded

• Sandvik DPi650 / DI650 drilling experience.
• Epiroc T45 drilling experience.
• Epiroc D65 drilling experience.
• Previous Leading Hand or crew mentoring experience.
• WA Dangerous Goods Security Card or ability to obtain.
• Schedule 26
