About the role
The HR Business Partner will act as a key HR contact for the Australia business, providing practical HR support and advice across the employee lifecycle. This role will work closely with business leaders, managers, and employees to support workforce planning, employee relations, performance management, recruitment coordination, HR operations, and compliance with Australian employment requirements.
Key responsibilities
HR Business Partnering
Partner with business leaders and managers to understand team needs and provide HR advice aligned with business objectives.
Support managers in handling people-related matters, including employee communication, team structure, performance concerns, and engagement.
Provide practical HR solutions while balancing business needs, employee experience, and compliance requirements.
Employee Relations & Compliance
Advise managers and employees on HR policies, employment terms, workplace conduct, and employee relations matters.
Support the handling of disciplinary issues, grievances, performance concerns, and termination processes in a fair and compliant manner.
Ensure HR practices are aligned with Australian employment laws, including Fair Work requirements, National Employment Standards, modern awards, and relevant workplace regulations.
Recruitment & Onboarding
Support recruitment activities, including role briefing, job posting, interview coordination, candidate communication, and offer preparation.
Coordinate onboarding arrangements to ensure new hires have a smooth joining experience.
Work with relevant teams to ensure employment documents, background checks, payroll processing, and system access are completed on time.
Performance Management
Support the performance review process, including communication, timeline tracking, manager guidance, and documentation.
Assist managers in setting clear performance expectations and addressing performance gaps.
Support probation reviews, confirmation processes, and performance improvement plans where required.
HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle
Manage and maintain accurate employee records, HR documents, and employment-related data.
Support employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, confirmation, transfer, salary adjustment, promotion, resignation, and offboarding.
Coordinate with payroll, finance, legal, and external vendors where needed.
Policy, Process & HR Projects
Assist in developing, reviewing, and implementing HR policies, guidelines, and procedures for the Australia business.
Support HR projects such as employee handbook updates, benefits review, engagement initiatives, HR reporting, and process improvement.
Identify opportunities to improve HR efficiency and employee experience.
Employee Engagement & Culture
Support initiatives that improve employee engagement, communication, and workplace culture.
Act as a trusted point of contact for employees and help address concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Promote a positive, inclusive, and compliant working environment.
About you
Minimum 3 years of HR experience, preferably in an HR Generalist, HRBP, or similar role
Prior experience supporting employees in Australia is preferred
Basic understanding of Australian employment practices, including Fair Work requirements, National Employment Standards, modern awards, employee relations matters, compensation and benefits, and workplace health and safety
Experience supporting multi-state employees across Australia and working with regional or global HR teams is an advantage
Experience in recruitment coordination, onboarding, employee lifecycle management, performance review support, HR operations, payroll coordination, HRIS, and HR reporting
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to partner effectively with employees and managers across the business
Business partnering mindset with strong employment compliance awareness, good problem-solving skills, and a hands-on approach to execution
Able to work independently, adapt to a fast-paced and evolving business environment, and take ownership of assigned responsibilities
Detail-oriented, well-organised, and able to handle confidential information with a high level of integrity and professionalism
Proficiency in English is required. Mandarin Chinese language skills are highly preferred to support communication with regional stakeholders
