Procurement Manager

Optimise PLP’s manufacturing supply chain through data-driven precision, advanced ERP utilisation, and active team mentoring. We are an established manufacturing organisation seeking an analytical, self-starting Purchasing Manager. This role requires an independent thinker who thrives on auditing complex data within our ERP system (Epicor) for effective material requirements planning, enforcing strict vendor compliance, and coaching a combined local and remote procurement team to achieve high operational and commercial standards. 

• Manage Purchasing systems and lead assigned staff (including both locally and remote based team members)

• Negotiate and recommend execution of contracts for the purchase of supplies, services and equipment

• Act to procure for PLP the needed quality in supplies, services and equipment at least expense.

• Within approved suppliers, endeavour to obtain as full and open competition as possible on all purchases

• Assist and direct Purchasing team to prepare purchasing documentation comprising (where possible) of purchase order, drawing and justification for management approval where required in accordance with defined authorisation levels

• Work with Supply chain analyst and Finance team to ensure standard material costing is as accurate as possible, while monitoring and justifying variances to these.

• Expedite purchases in advance and keep stakeholders abreast of developments which may influence PLP’s ability to deliver on time and to commitments

• Ability to work with project team to prepare costings and deliverables for major projects, providing key support from tender through to execution and delivery

• Prescribe and maintain such records as are reasonably necessary to conform to the requirements and for use in both performance monitoring and developing ongoing supplier relationships

• Purchase only from approved sources and where deviations are requested, these have been approved prior to the purchase order being raised

• Maintain suppliers price list, standard lead-time, MOQ, pack size, multiple off and other pertinent information on the companies ERP system while managing changes as necessary

• Review each order originating from an Order Point parameter to ensure that unnecessary purchases are avoided and recommend relevant changes in ERP settings to avoid repeat.

• Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager within a fast-paced manufacturing or industrial environment.

• Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and lead mixed teams across multiple physical or remote locations.

• Strong technical proficiency with Epicor ERP (or similar) and PowerBI dashboards.

• High attention to detail with a zero-tolerance approach to contract deviations, or unjustified cost variances.

• A fast-paced, independent work ethic with the agility to pivot between day-to-day operations and major project tenders under tight timelines.
