Leading Hand – Remedial Building

Evolution Built is a growing Sydney-based remedial building company specialising in building remediation, defect rectification, waterproofing, concrete repairs, balconies, structural repairs and general building works.

We are looking for an experienced Leading Hand to join our team.

This is a hands-on position for someone who has strong remedial building experience, enjoys working on the tools and is ready to take the next step into site supervision.

You will work closely with our Project Managers and management team, helping run the day-to-day works on site, lead trades and labourers, coordinate subcontractors and ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

About The Role

This is a leading-from-the-front position. We are looking for someone who is comfortable getting on the tools and working alongside the team, while also taking responsibility for coordinating the works.

Key responsibilities

• Leading small teams of trades and labourers on site

• Working hands-on across remedial building projects

• Coordinating subcontractors and daily site activities

• Demolition, strip-outs and removal of existing building materials

• General construction labour and site works

• Operating hand and power tools

• Carpentry and general building works

• Concrete repairs and surface preparation

• Waterproofing and associated preparation works

• Organising materials, tools and deliveries

• Ensuring works are completed to the required quality and specification

• Carrying out and overseeing remedial works

• Identifying issues on site and working with management to resolve them

• Maintaining site safety and housekeeping

• Taking progress photos and providing updates to the Project Manager

• Assisting with site programming and sequencing

• Ensuring the project stays on track

• Communicating professionally with clients, strata representatives and building occupants

Remedial Experience - Essential

We are specifically looking for someone with hands-on remedial building experience. Experience in some or all of the following would be highly regarded:

• Waterproofing and wet areas

• Concrete spalling and concrete repairs

• Balcony remediation

• Carpentry

• Structural repairs

• Brickwork and masonry

• Façade repairs

• Render repairs

• General building rectification

• Tiling and associated remedial works

A carpentry background would be highly regarded, but the most important thing is that you understand remedial construction and capable of working across different aspects of a project.

• Solid experience in remedial building

• Confident working on the tools

• Experience leading or coordinating other trades

• Takes pride in the quality of their work

• Can read plans and understand scopes of work

• Reliable and takes ownership of their responsibilities

• Good communication skills

• Can work independently when required

• Strong understanding of site safety

• Wants to build a long-term career in the construction industry

• Looking to progress into a Site Supervisor role

Requirements

• Previous remedial building experience – essential

• Trade background, preferably carpentry

• White Card

• Current driver's licence

• Good understanding of WHS

• Strong communication and organisational skills
