Team Leader, SMA Rebalancing (Pre-Trade Operations)

The Role

As Team Leader you’ll lead a team responsible for the operational management of Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs), with a focus on the domestic and international SMA rebalance process.

Investment Managers determine the strategies and investment decisions, which are then applied across thousands of client accounts on the Praemium platform. Your team analyses and validates the resulting trades before they are allocated to Brokers for execution.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll be actively involved in analysing high volumes of trading activity, investigating exceptions and reconciliation breaks, and using your judgement to determine whether trades are accurate and appropriate. You’ll also act as a key escalation point for complex operational issues and work closely with Investment Managers, Brokers, Custodians and internal teams.

You’ll manage and lead a small team, driving strong operational controls and a high level of client service. The role operates in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment, with the morning SMA rebalance period being critical to the day’s activity.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the end-to-end SMA trade lifecycle from Investment Manager strategy and rebalance through to trade validation, broker allocation, execution and settlement.
• Get to the root cause of exceptions, breaks, cash, positions, restrictions and unusual trading activity.
• Authorise or challenge trades before they are released to brokers for execution.
• Drive stronger controls and better client outcomes.
• Manage and support a small team of SMA trade rebalancing professionals and support broader Investment Operations activities including Corporate Actions and trade settlement.
