About the role
Kesser Torah College (KTC) is a thriving Chabad Orthodox Jewish Day School situated in Dover Heights in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. Catering to over 600 boys and girls from Early Learning through to Year 12, KTC provides an integrated education that balances a rigorous academic curriculum with comprehensive Jewish studies. Supported by a dedicated team of more than 120 staff, the College is committed to achieving academic excellence within a nurturing, inclusive environment underpinned by Jewish values and traditions.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Design and Technology/TAS Teacher to join our collegial High School Team. This is a permanent full-time position, commencing in Term 3, 2026.
The successful candidate will teach across a range of comprehensive classes, with the ability to engage and support students of varying ability levels.
Plan, deliver and assess TAS programs for Years 7–12 in line with NESA syllabuses, teaching Technology Mandatory and specialised senior subjects, including Stage 6 Design and Technology and mentoring HSC Major Projects.
Deliver practical, project-based learning across woodworking, textiles, and digital technologies, building student skills from foundational through to advanced.
Integrate industry-standard technologies and embed design thinking and sustainability principles across the curriculum.
Maintain safe, well-managed practical environments (workshops, textile studios, kitchens), ensuring WHS compliance, risk assessments and resource management.
Differentiate instruction and manage classrooms effectively across practical and theory lessons, assessing progress through varied formative and summative strategies with constructive feedback.
Foster student independence in managing design projects from concept to production and reflection.
Collaborate with colleagues, contribute to the Creative Arts department and broader school community, and engage in ongoing professional growth.
You will demonstrate:
Proven experience teaching Technology, and Design and Technology within a High School setting.
Current accreditation at, or progress towards, Proficient Level through NESA.
Strong classroom practice and a commitment to student learning outcomes.
An open-minded, energetic approach with a willingness to try innovative teaching methodologies.
A strong commitment to student learning outcomes and the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with students, parents, and staff.
A commitment to ongoing professional growth
