About the role
About The Role
In this role, you will inspire visitors to explore the region by providing exceptional customer service and expert advice on local attractions, tourism products, and experiences. You will be working closely with staff, visitors and volunteers assisting with the core objective of Tourism Greater Geelong and the Bellarine which is to lead and manage visitor servicing throughout the region.
The centre is in operation across 7 days, therefore the successful candidate must have availability across both weekdays and weekends.
Work type: Permanent Part Time 0.4FTE (2 days a week)
Classification: Band 4 at $76,010.65 pa plus super (pro rata)
Key responsibilities include:
Deliver exceptional visitor experiences by providing friendly, professional, and accurate information to visitors, volunteers, staff, and industry stakeholders. Coordinate and support a passionate volunteer team, including rostering, training, social media skills development, First Aid certification support, and tourism industry familiarisation opportunities. Build strong relationships across the tourism sector by engaging with visitors, local businesses, and key stakeholders to promote regional experiences and ensure outstanding service. Drive informed decision-making by accurately capturing and reporting visitor insights, including walk-ins, phone enquiries, emails, and survey feedback. Keep operations running smoothly through effective administration, including resource coordination, database management, reporting, submissions, and office support activities. Support the delivery of key tourism initiatives by contributing to visitor servicing projects, representing the organisation at industry meetings, and collaborating with stakeholders to enhance the visitor experience. Participate in tourism related meetings both inside and outside normal working hours.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have experience working in a multi-faceted fast paced customer service environment.
Essential Experience:
Proven capability in the use of MS Word, Excel and Access. Proficiency in identify and report information gaps, visitor trends and movements relevant to Victoria. Capabality to work autonomously and make sound decisions. Ability to relate and work effectively with a variety of clients. Diploma in Tourism Management or related field. (Desirable)Experience developing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with Tourism Industry and/or Community Groups. (Desirable)
Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
