The City of Karratha is seeking an experienced and hands-on Technical Supervisor to lead the delivery of technical services at the Red Earth Arts Precinct (REAP). This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the successful operation of all on-stage, backstage and technical aspects of the venue, delivering exceptional experiences for artists, hirers, audiences and the wider community.Reporting to the Community Operations Coordinator, you will oversee the planning, coordination and delivery of technical requirements across a diverse program of performances, events and cultural activities. From lighting, sound and audiovisual systems through to stage operations, rigging, staffing and venue safety, you will play a key role in maintaining REAP as a premier performing arts venue in the region.
What You'll Be DoingLead the delivery of technical operations across REAP, including lighting, audio, audiovisual, staging, rigging and performance support.Coordinate and supervise technical staff, casual employees and volunteers, including recruitment, rostering, training and performance support.Liaise with hirers, production teams and event organisers to plan, coordinate and deliver successful events, performances and cultural activities.Manage the maintenance, safety, inventory and ongoing operation of technical equipment, theatre systems and backstage facilities.Oversee technical budgets, procurement, contractor management, reporting, client invoicing support and event-related documentation.
What We're Looking ForProven experience in a performing arts, theatre or live events environment, with strong technical expertise across lighting, sound, audiovisual, stage and production operations.Demonstrated leadership experience supervising technical teams, casual staff or volunteers, with the ability to coordinate multiple events and competing priorities.Strong problem-solving, organisational and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with artists, clients, contractors, community groups and internal teams.Relevant tertiary qualification or significant industry experience (minimum 5 years), together with a current C Class Driver's Licence, First Aid Certificate, National Police Clearance and the ability to obtain or hold EWP and Rigging licences.
