About the role
This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2027
Southern River College (SRC) is ideally seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic Design & Technology teacher, with excellent interpersonal skills. The Role
The successful applicant should be able to teach a range of courses within the Design & Technology Learning Area, including vocational courses and senior secondary level courses plus the ability to teach in multiple contexts; Woodwork, Metalwork, Robotics, laser cutting and 3D printing. You will ideally deliver an engaging and contemporary Design and Technology curriculum across lower and upper school levels.
As the successful applicant, you will ideally be a highly motivated practitioner; student and relationship focused be able to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning experiences utilising innovative initiatives and be able to work effectively within a dynamic team. This may involve you reflecting, differentiation and assessing the effectiveness of your teaching practice and cultivating a safe learning environment.
The successful applicant will be part of the Technologies learning area, which includes a new Head of Department and Technologies team. Subjects include Design and Technology, Home Economics and Digital Technologies in which you would be joining a collaborative team committed to providing engaging, relevant, and future-focused learning experiences that develop students’ creativity, problem-solving skills, practical abilities, and the capacity to design solutions for real-world challenges.
You should utilise evidence-based teaching practices whilst employing a range of assessment and reporting methods. Ideally with effective interpersonal skills, you will work collaboratively with students, teachers and the wider community to foster rigour, resilience and pride, enabling students to achieve their full potential.
The successful applicant should bring a strong student-focused growth mindset, a relationship-driven teaching approach, and a genuine passion for teaching. You should be committed to building positive relationships with students and creating a safe, inclusive, and purposeful learning environment where students are challenged, supported and empowered.
