Senior Team Leader - Accommodation Services

About the role

As a Senior Team Leader you will contribute to an inclusive, just and productive organisational culture, uphold values, lead with kindness, demonstrate informed decision making, monitor service quality, prioritise cultural safety and client outcomes. You will hold significant responsibilities, delegations and oversight performance of designated services, projects and initiatives. Your direct reports will be effectively supported, receive professional supervision and empowered to fulfill their roles.

As part of the Accommodation and Support Services team, you will manage key services, sites and initiatives including but not limited to QHome, a fully staffed 24/7 adult crisis accommodation complex for 39 adults. You will ensure services and activities are integrated and meet administrative, data and reporting deadlines. Working collaboratively with the Manager, Senior Team Leader (Client Services), Support Workers and Case Workers you will identify, mitigate and manage client, staff, financial and stakeholder related risks and participate in advocacy, networking, partnership and service development opportunities. Priorities will be guided by a Workplan periodically updated to meet organisational needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with the Accommodation and Support Services team to meet HSQF standards and Child Safe Organisation standards. Assist with client file reviews, internal service audits, service reviews and embedding improvements in service design and practices.
• Lead Accommodation Services (QHome) and build positive relationship with YAL (site owner), who maintain the property (onsite). Monitor performance, adherence to contract deliverables and data integrity.
• Provide professional supervision, support and guidance to direct reports. Concurrently ensure direct reports provide regular supervision to their staff and that all parties receive essential inductions, job orientations and development opportunities.
• Mentor the Accommodation team. Convene service specific and whole team meetings to maintain effective communications, in-service training, reflect on feedback and outcomes and undertake planning.
• Oversight rostering (including On Call), facilities and service-related expenditure to ensure budget objectives are met and align with organisational accountability requirements. Assist with annual budget development and monitoring of payroll and financial reports.
• Assist with recruitment, monitor staff performance, mentor direct reports in contemporary staff management practices, support proactive performance improvement measures and where necessary (with approval) activate performance management action.
• Monitor service intake, need and risk assessment processes. Ensure service exclusions / unmet demand are documented, is in line with guidelines and managed in ways that ensure each person’s safety and basic needs are met with dignity, respect and creativity.
• Ensure culturally safe engagement and support are applied and that residents are central to planning and their needs, preferences, aspirations along with safety planning and transition out strategies are included and regularly reviewed.
• Oversight client related data integrity (and security) for designated services; ensure client documentation is of a high standard, and that internal and external service-related reports are of good quality and meet deadlines.
• Implement approved client feedback and consultation processes, ensuring adults have opportunities to input and influence service design, operational practices and day to day programming.
• Lead hazard identification, risk mitigation, incident and complaint management ensuring timely escalation, completion of documentation and that learnings are integrated into service improvements and or changes to policies, procedures or practices.
• Participate in / contribute to networks, interagency forums, sector activities and advocacy efforts focused on the needs of adults such as housing, income support and pathways to education, training and jobs.

To be successful you will need

• Tertiary qualifications in Community Services / Social Sciences or related discipline.
• Substantial case work experience with young people/young adults from diverse cultural backgrounds dealing with challenges such as disconnection from family, homelessness, alcohol and other drug issues, disrupted education and or unemployment.
• Strong record of effective staff supervision, service management, and meeting contract deliverables and service standards.
• Knowledge of early intervention, family engagement, homelessness and models that support adults develop independent living, relational and tenancy skills and to re-engage in education, training and job pathways.
• Track record of strong Teamwork, collaborative practice and project management.
• Proven aptitude for administration, data analysis and reporting on client outcomes and service impact.
• Commitment to diversity, inclusion, reconciliation and closing the gap objectives and experience working with First Nations people, organisations and communities.

Compliance

• Evidence of mandatory qualifications
• Satisfactory outcome of a current (less than 3 months old) National Criminal History Check
• Blue Card (QLD working with children card)
• QLD drivers’ licence ‘Class C’ or interstate equivalent
• Ability (and willingness) to participate in a rostered (shared) 24/7 On Call system
• Required to transport clients and or to visit clients in their place of residence or within another out of office setting
• Out of hours work may be required from time to time
• Ability (and willingness) to undertake local area / regional travel
• First Aid certificate and CPR certificate.
