About The Opportunity
As a Wellbeing Navigator Peer, you'll walk alongside people in our community on their mental health and wellbeing journey, offering guidance through a range of person-centred supports and services. You'll help individuals connect with what matters most to them, whether it's achieving personal goals, fostering healing, finding social inclusion or strengthening their sense of belonging.
This is a unique opportunity that exists with the goal of making sure everyone in our community is supported, included and empowered.
Key elements of your new role will include:
Welcome people accessing the service and assist with intake processesProvide intentional, strengths-based peer supportOffer one-on-one support and collaborative care planningAssist people to navigate and access mental health, wellbeing and community servicesSupport people to build everyday skills, resilience and confidence
The role will initially be based in Frankston while a permanent site for the Port Phillip service is confirmed. Once established, the role will transition to the new service location.

An opportunity exists for the role to be offered on a part-time basis, with a minimum commitment of four days per week, for the right candidate. Salary will be paid on a pro rata basis.
About You
You have personal lived experience with mental health challenges, psychological distress, and/or substance use, and you've navigated your own recovery journey. Through this experience and your training, you've gained valuable insight that allows you to support others with empathy, understanding and hope.
You are passionate about peer work and comfortable drawing on your lived experience in a safe, purposeful and recovery-focused way to support people on their own wellbeing journey.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Personal experience of mental distress and accessing and navigating healthcare services, including mental health services and a willingness to draw upon your experiences and recovery journey to inform your work1+ year relevant work experience in the Mental Health SectorCertificate IV/Diploma in Mental Health, AOD or tertiary qualification in social science or Intentional Peer Support (IPS) Training or willingness to undertake peer training & mentoringEvidence of right to work in AustraliaCurrent valid Driver’s License and the ability to undertake travel for the roleSatisfactory National Police Check, Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to undertakeNDIS Workers Orientation Module certificate – free online course
About The Service
The Mental Health and Wellbeing Local is a newly established service in St Kilda that provides free, voluntary and easy-to-access support for people aged 26 years and over experiencing mental health challenges, including co-occurring substance use or addiction. Delivered in partnership with Wellways and the Alfred Care Group as part of Bayside Health, the service is community-led, person-centred and shaped by lived experience.
Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals use a "no wrong door" approach, making it easier for people to access the support they need close to home, family and community.
