South West Aviation Services (SWAS) is a professional aviation ground handling company contracted to deliver passenger experience and ramp handling services for several airlines at the Busselton Margaret River Airport in Busselton, Western Australia.

Servicing both Regular Passenger Transport (RPT) flights, as well as private and ad hoc charter flights, our team of highly trained staff has established a strong reputation for delivering exceptional service over 15 years in the industry. SWAS is a division of the Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association (MRBTA) which also operates caves, lighthouses, a high ropes adventure course, a bird of prey sanctuary, multi-site retail outlets, and visitor centres with a total workforce of over 160 staff.

About the Role    

We're growing our ground crew team at Busselton Margaret River Airport and are currently seeking three new team members:

•          2 x Ramp Staff

•          1 x Customer Service Agent

Both roles work two to three 4-hour shifts per week, including weekends at:

•          0830 to 1230

•          1300 to 1700

These times move back an hour during daylight saving. Additional time will be required in your first weeks for start-up and induction t raining.2

Whilst previous experience in ground handling and/or aviation industry is an advantage, it is not essential, as on-the-job training will be provided.

Ramp Staff - duties include (but are not limited to)

• Secure aircraft on arrival

• Load and unload aircraft

• Transport baggage to and from the aircraft

• Operate specialist ground service equipment such as tugs and belt loaders

• Be trained to carry out aircraft marshalling and dispatch, working directly with flight crews

Customer Service Agent - duties include (but are not limited to)

• Inspect and verify passenger documentation and identification

• Check passengers in and issue boarding passes

• Process passenger baggage in line with carrier terms and conditions

• Collect any fees or charges if applicable

• Ability to work autonomously and meet strict time constraints

• Good verbal and written communication skills

• Good computer literacy

• Professional presentation with a positive attitude

• A team player who contributes to a strong, open, and supportive team ethos

• Availability to work as rostered according to flight schedules, which may fall on any day of the week

• Level of fitness necessary to lift 32kg unassisted

• Willingness to undertake a full pre-employment medical, and drug and alcohol screening as required

• Willingness to undertake a Federal Police clearance check
