Receptionist

About the role

We are seeking a friendly, organised, and customer-focused Receptionist to join our team on a full-time maternity leave contract. As the first point of contact for our clients, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the clinic while providing outstanding customer service. The successful applicant will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate a genuine interest in animal care and client support.

Key responsibilities

• Greet clients and their pets in a welcoming and professional manner.

• Manage incoming telephone calls and respond to client enquiries.

• Schedule and coordinate veterinary appointments.

• Process payments, invoices, and daily banking activities.

• Maintain accurate client and patient records.

• Assist with prescription collections and retail sales.

• Support veterinarians and nurses with administrative tasks.

• Manage appointment reminders and client communications.

• Maintain a clean and organised reception and waiting area.

• Perform general office duties, including filing, data entry, and correspondence.

About you

• Previous experience in a reception, administration, or customer service role.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong organisational and time management abilities.

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

• Proficient computer skills and ability to learn new software systems.

• Professional presentation and positive attitude.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

• Previous experience within a veterinary, medical, or healthcare environment (desirable).

• Knowledge of veterinary practice management software (desirable).

• Experience handling accounts, invoicing, or EFTPOS transactions (desirable).
