Civil Construction Labourer

Wellam Constructions is a locally based civil construction company seeking the services of Civil Construction Labourers.  You will be based within the Geelong region.

General duties would include:

• Assist with the setup and dismantling of construction sites, including fencing, signage, and barriers.

• Perform manual excavation, trenching, and backfilling.

• Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment.

• Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision.

• Support tradespeople and machine operators as required.

• Maintain cleanliness and general housekeeping of the site.

• Assist with concrete pouring, formwork, and compaction tasks.

• Carry out traffic control duties (if licensed).

• Interpret construction drawings and specifications to ensure accurate execution.

• Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with company policies and procedures.

• Strictly adhere to all company policies, including Safe Work Method Statements, OH&S Policy (including PPE), and Drug and Alcohol Policy.

• Collaborate effectively with other teams on site to ensure smooth workflow.

Required skills/knowledge:

Essential:

• Hold a valid Construction Induction (White) Card.

• Hold a current and valid Driver's Licence.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Ability to apply knowledge of OH&S requirements to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

• Experience in civil construction.

• Knowledge of local council subdivisional standards and procedures.

• Familiarity with relevant local authority regulations (e.g., Power, Communications, Water, Gas).
