Overview

Shirley Parsons is supporting a well‑established hospitality group to appoint a Health & Safety Officer on a part‑time basis. This role plays a key part in supporting safe, compliant, and high‑performing workplaces across a portfolio of operational venues.

Reporting to a HR Manager, the WHS Officer will focus on practical, day‑to‑day safety coordination, supporting venue leadership teams to meet their legislative obligations and drive good practice.

This opportunity is well suited to a hands‑on WHS professional seeking flexibility while remaining closely connected to operations.

About the Role

Working across multiple hospitality venues, you will support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of WHS systems, provide practical guidance to venue teams, and assist with compliance, risk management, and incident administration.

The role is operational in nature and requires regular site engagement, strong communication skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships with venue managers, duty managers, and frontline staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of WHS policies, procedures, and systems

• Conduct site safety inspections and ensure timely follow-up on corrective actions

• Assist with hazard identification, incident reporting, investigations, and risk assessments

• Maintain risk registers and support contractor safety, inductions, and compliance processes

• Contribute to WHS reporting, continuous improvement, and provide practical guidance at venue level (including emergency planning)

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety

• 2+ years’ experience in a WHS or safety coordination role

• Working knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations, and codes of practice

• Strong administrative, organisational, and documentation skills

• Confidence engaging with operational teams in fast‑paced environments

Desirable Experience

• Experience in a multi‑site or operational business

• Exposure to hospitality, retail, or service‑based environments

• Experience using WHS or compliance management systems
