Sexual Violence Engagement Lead

TFSVA is lutruwita/Tasmania's new peak body for victim-survivors and family and sexual violence services. Our purpose is to provide a coordinated and strategic response to family violence, sexual violence, and child sexual abuse within the state. TFSVA aims to transform the culture and systems that perpetuate gender inequality and violence, striving to create a place where all people experience safety, dignity, and agency.

About the role

The Sexual Violence Engagement Lead (SV Lead) provides strategic leadership for TFSVA's member engagement and sector representation, with a primary focus on sexual violence. Working closely with the CEO, the counterpart Family Violence lead and TFSVA team, the role leads member engagement strategy, sector consultations, communications and advocacy, core projects, and supports evidence-informed policy development. The role ensures the experiences, expertise and priorities of members and victim-survivors inform TFSVA's work and contribute to coordinated, practical and systemic change.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of TFSVA's member engagement strategy, in collaboration with the CEO, counterpart Family Violence lead and members.

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with members and stakeholders across the sexual violence sector, while contributing to engagement across the broader family and sexual violence sector.

• Strengthen member participation, retention and value by creating accessible opportunities for members to connect, contribute, share expertise and shape TFSVA priorities.

• Ensure member feedback is captured, responded to and integrated into organisational planning, projects, policy and advocacy.

• Plan and lead consultations on sexual violence issues through meetings, surveys, roundtables, workshops, forums and other fit-for-purpose methods.

• Represent TFSVA in relevant networks, working groups and stakeholder forums, as agreed with the CEO.

• Lead communications and advocacy activity relating to sexual violence, aligned with TFSVA's strategic priorities and organisational messaging.

• Lead agreed core projects and initiatives relevant to sexual violence, from scoping and planning through delivery, evaluation and reporting.

• Monitor and report back to the TFSVA team on emerging sexual violence policy, practice, service-system and reform issues to identify implications and opportunities for TFSVA and its members.

• Work in close partnership with the Family Violence Lead to ensure consistent approaches, shared learning and coordinated engagement across TFSVA's full remit.

Selection Criteria - Essential

• Demonstrated experience leading member, stakeholder or sector engagement strategies in a complex service, policy, peak body or not-for-profit environment.

• Strong understanding of, and credibility within, the sexual violence sector or a closely related field.

• Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating inclusive face-to-face and online consultations, meetings, workshops and sector forums.

• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce persuasive advocacy materials, briefings, submissions, reports and digital content.

• Demonstrated project leadership skills, including planning, delivery, risk management, evaluation and reporting across multiple priorities.

• Experience contributing to policy development and translating evidence, consultation findings and sector intelligence into clear recommendations.

• Proven ability to build trusted relationships, navigate diverse perspectives and work collaboratively with members, government and community stakeholders.

• High-level judgement, organisation and initiative, with the ability to work independently and as part of a small, collaborative team.

• Commitment to trauma-informed, inclusive and culturally safe practice, and to centring victim-survivor voice without creating an expectation of disclosure.

Selection Criteria – Desirable

• Experience working in a member-based peak body or not-for-profit organisation.

• Experience in systemic advocacy, government relations or public policy processes\

• Experience using co-design, lived-experience engagement or participatory approaches in sensitive contexts.

Other Requirements

• A current Tasmanian driver’s licence and capacity to travel intrastate

• Ability to hold Working with Vulnerable People registration

• Consent for a police check and National Personal Insolvency Index Check (to be sought if a preferred candidate).
