Our programs include the ANZAC and Hunter Class frigates and air defence applications for Army and Air Force, and Range applications. Through our longstanding and ongoing collaboration with Defence, CEA Technologies has undertaken research and development into all aspects of active electronically scanned array technologies. This has resulted in the creation of a highly modular and scalable product suite, which have become integral to a wide range of critical Defence capabilities.
The Position
The Schedule Analyst – R&D supports engineering teams by enabling informed planning, coordination and sequencing of research and development activities across engineering programs. Operating within a complex, iterative and technically uncertain environment, the role develops and maintains integrated schedules that provide visibility of design, prototyping, testing, and integration activities to support appropriate sequencing of program objectives and delivery milestones. The role is critical in informing internal stakeholders with R&D delivery outcomes while balancing flexibility required for innovation.
Key Responsibilities
R&D Scheduling
Prepare and maintain schedules across R&D activities, including design, prototyping, testing and integration phases
Translate technical work breakdowns into structured, understandable schedules
Support planning across iterative development cycles, including rework loops and experimental pathways
Maintain schedules that reflect technical and project dependencies, lead times and critical path activities
Support alignment between R&D activities and downstream functions including manufacturing, verification and validation
Work Management
Support planning of R&D activities, trials and test campaigns by incorporating uncertainty, iteration and appropriate scheduling contingencies
Maintain visibility of iteration cycles and communicate their impact on broader program timelines
Assist project teams in maintaining realistic and achievable delivery schedules
Resource Visibility
Provide visibility of engineering resource allocation against planned R&D activities
Identify resource bottlenecks, over-allocation or underutilisation across specialist engineering disciplines
Support resource planning through analysis of schedule-driven resource demand
Report the impact of resource constraints and impact on project delivery
Delivery Tracking & Risk Identification
Monitor progress against key R&D milestones, including reviews, test and integration activities
Identify schedule risks arising from technical uncertainty, dependencies or delivery delays.
Provide timely advice and escalation of schedule impacts to support decision-making.
Support scenario planning and re-baselining as required.
Systems, Tools & Reporting
Maintain scheduling and work flow systems and tools to support effective R&D planning.
Develop clear reporting outputs to provide visibility of R&D progress, risks and constraints.
Maintain accurate, current and accessible scheduling data.
Contribute to continuous improvement of scheduling practices, reporting and data quality within the R&D function.
Stakeholder Coordination
Work closely with engineers and technical leads to ensure schedules accurately reflect reality and intent of planned activities.
Communicate scheduled priorities, sequencing and changes to relevant stakeholders.
Liaise with project management teams to understand project dependencies and schedule impacts.
Support Engineering Release processes by providing schedule information and identifying potential delivery risks.

Our Ideal Candidate
Experience in scheduling, coordination or program support within an engineering, manufacturing, or R&D environment
Strong understanding of product development or systems engineering lifecycles.
Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence planning outcomes.
High-level organisational and analytical capability
High attention to detail and data accuracy
Ability to manage complexity, ambiguity and iterative workflows
Ability to work across multiple activities and priorities simultaneously
Experience with project scheduling tools (e.g. OPP)
Desirable
Understanding of engineering or R&D lifecycle processes
Exposure to capacity planning or resource forecasting.
Experience in defence, advanced manufacturing or complex systems environments.
Familiarity with design, test and integration processes.
Exposure to resource/capacity planning methodologies.
Eligibility
An Australian Citizen;
Eligible to obtain and maintain an AGSVA clearance – Negative Vetting 1.
