Join our team as a Senior Communications Adviser

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Council in a long-term contract role through to 30 June 2028, with the potential for extension.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Strategic Communications – Develop and deliver communication, media and marketing strategies for major city planning projects and initiatives.

• Community Engagement – Lead consultation and engagement programs that encourage meaningful community participation.

• Planning Project Advocacy – Translate complex planning and development matters into clear, accessible information for diverse audiences.

• Stakeholder Management – Build strong relationships with community groups, elected representatives, media and key stakeholders.

• Content & Campaign Development – Create compelling messaging, positioning, branding and digital content that drives engagement.

• Workshop Facilitation – Plan and deliver community information sessions, workshops and public engagement activities.

• Project Leadership – Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality communications outcomes on time and within scope.

• Planning & Governance – Manage budgets, project plans and reporting to support successful project delivery.

Skills and experience:

• Experience delivering strategic communications, engagement and media campaigns within a large or complex organisation.

• Demonstrated experience supporting major planning, development or city-shaping projects.

• Strong understanding of planning and development processes, including statutory consultation requirements.

• Proven ability to design and deliver community engagement programs and public consultation activities.

• Experience providing strategic communications advice to senior leaders, elected representatives or executive stakeholders.

• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and build trusted relationships.

• Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional project teams and managing competing priorities.

• Ability to work autonomously, manage budgets and deliver outcomes within tight deadlines.

Who we are:

Eligibility:

• You'll hold a current C class licence
• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Communications, Marketing or equivalent relevant industry experience, desirable but not essential 
• To be eligible for employment, applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia.
