Conatur Legal About the Role   This is a hands-on accounting role working closely with management and the firm's legal teams. The position covers general accounting and management reporting, together with financial responsibilities specific to a law firm environment, including trust account reconciliations, settlement financials and private lending transactions.

  Key Responsibilities Manage month-end accounting, including journals, accruals, prepayments, general ledger reviews and balance sheet reconciliations. Prepare monthly management reports, budgets, cash-flow forecasts and financial performance reports, including variance analysis across the firm’s different practice areas. Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure the integrity of financial information across the business.

Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, superannuation and related financial reconciliations. Assist with BAS, GST, year-end accounting and preparation of financial information for external accountants and professional advisers. Complete and review trust account reconciliations, maintain supporting records and assist with applicable Law Society trust accounting requirements.

Review and reconcile the financial components of conveyancing and property settlements, including deposits, adjustments, disbursements and settlement balances. Collate and prepare trust account financial records for external auditor review. Review and reconcile financial calculations associated with private lending transactions, including loan advances, interest, fees and funding movements.

Liaise with solicitors, banks, private lenders, brokers and external advisers regarding financial reconciliations, funding movements and accounting-related matters. Maintain and improve internal accounting controls, financial reporting processes and accounting systems across the firm. About

You The successful applicant will ideally have: A Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Professional Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline. Relevant professional experience in an accounting or finance role.

Strong experience with month-end accounting, reconciliations, management reporting, budgeting and cash-flow analysis. Experience with trust accounting and trust account reconciliations, including an understanding of applicable Law Society requirements and related financial processes. Experience working within a law firm or professional services environment would be highly regarded.

Ability to work closely with the Principal Solicitor, management and clients in relation to accounting and financial matters. Experience using accounting and practice management systems, including MYOB AccountRight, LEAP or comparable software, would be highly regarded. Strong Microsoft Excel, analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with management, lenders, brokers, external accountants and professional advisers. Why Join Conatur Legal?
