Catering Assistant

About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our Hospital Catering Team.  You will be responsible for the distribution and collection of all customer menus, food trays and beverages, and basic food preparation whilst offering high standards of quality and service to customers and patients.

You must have flexibility to work weekdays and some weekends (including public holidays) across a variety of shifts. We offer early mornings, afternoon and evening shifts to fit in with your lifestyle. A Casual position is on offer with an immediate start.

About You

You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and have the following attributes: 

• Menu monitoring experience; collection and collation of patient menus including the identification and communication of special dietary needs and performs nutritional support tasks for patients within the Hospital as required by the Dietitian & Doctors. 

Role responsibilities:

• Direct contact with patients
• Daily updates of diet lists from supervising nurses
• Collating patient menus & updating Chefs in the kitchen
• Sound knowledge of therapeutic diet.
• Ability to work cohesively in a team environment
• A ‘can do’ attitude with a friendly disposition
• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment (desirable)
• Promotes excellent customer service
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Knowledge of safe food handling practices and high standards of cleanliness
