Workshop Leading Hand

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Workshop Leading Hand to oversee our Fremantle workshop operations. This hands-on leadership role will manage fabrication activities, workshop resources, and mobilisation of project materials and equipment to sites across WA. This position is predominantly workshop-based in Fremantle; however, flexibility is required to support Perth-based project sites and occasional remote work trips, typically for periods of 1–3 days.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily workshop operations

• Supervise fabricators, carpenters, and warehouse personnel

• Manage workshop stock and project materials

• Work with Operations Manager on construction operations in the workshop ensuring they run to schedule

• Coordinate plant, vehicle servicing, and repairs

• Be competent mechanically to complete vehicle repairs

• Liaise with Operations Manager and organise mobilisation of materials and fabricated items to projects

• Coordinate asset maintenance of rigging, electrical and fire equipment at workshop and work site

• Monitor progress and provide weekly project updates

• Ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality workshop performance

About you

• Trade qualification in a construction-related field

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role

• HR Driver's Licence

• White Card

• High Risk Work Licences (LF, RI, DG, CV)

• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills

• Sound understanding of HSEQ requirements
