The Role 

As a Work Health and Safety Business Partner, you will play a key role in supporting business units to develop, implement and continuously improve Council's Safety Management System. Working closely with leaders and employees, you will provide specialist advice, drive safety initiatives and support compliance with WHS legislation and best practice.

This is a permanent part-time position working 15 hours per week across Thursday and Friday. As part of a job-share arrangement, you will work closely with and support your peer to ensure seamless service delivery and consistent WHS support across the organisation.

This is an on-site role that offers the opportunity to influence safety outcomes across a large and diverse organisation while contributing to the delivery of Council's Safety and Wellbeing Strategy. You will partner with stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities, support Return to Work outcomes and help foster a strong safety culture across the organisation.

Duties will include but not be limited to: 

• Partner with business units to strengthen safety performance and foster a positive safety culture
• Coordinate Return to Work of injured workers and support injury management activities
• Provide expert advice on WHS legislation, compliance requirements and best practice
• Monitor and analyse safety performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
• Support the implementation of Council's Safety and Wellbeing Strategy and related initiatives
• Review and improve safety management systems, processes and workplace practices
• Build safety capability through stakeholder engagement, coaching and education
• Contribute to audits, investigations and continuous improvement initiatives

You will have:

• Qualifications in Work Health and Safety or equivalent experience
• Current Class C Driver's Licence
• Experience implementing and improving Safety Management System processes and procedures
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, standards, industry trends and best practice
• Experience in a WHS advisory, business partnering or safety-focused role
• The ability to interpret and apply legislation to support business outcomes
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence at all levels
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement, reporting and risk management

Annual salary starts from $97,327 (prorata) + 12% super (Grade G, Step 1), depending on skills and experience.
