Join Bendigo Kangan Institute as our Program Lead - Community and Mental Health (Regional) and lead a dedicated team delivering quality vocational education that creates positive social impact across regional Victoria.

Location: Bendigo City Campus
Role Type: Full-time, ongoing
Remuneration: $144k salary plus superannuation
Work Arrangement: Predominantly on-site with some flexibility

About The Role:

The Program Lead - Community and Mental Health (Regional) is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing delivery, quality and performance across a diverse community services and mental health training portfolio in regional Victoria.

Reporting to the Department Manager, you will lead and support a team of 11 educators delivering nationally recognised vocational qualifications across Community Services, Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), Youth Work and Justice. While the role has a strong leadership focus, you will also contribute directly to classroom delivery and maintain strong connections with industry and community stakeholders.

You will oversee program planning, staff capability, student outcomes and operational performance while helping ensure our training remains relevant, engaging and aligned to workforce needs across the community services sector.

Working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, you will drive educational excellence, foster a positive team culture and support continuous improvement across the portfolio.

This is a predominantly campus-based position located in Bendigo, offering the opportunity to lead meaningful programs that directly contribute to stronger communities and improved wellbeing outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor and support a team of 11 teaching staff
• Coordinate delivery across Community Services, Mental Health, AOD, Youth Work and Justice programs
• Contribute to classroom teaching and student engagement activities
• Drive quality outcomes across teaching, assessment and compliance
• Monitor program performance, student progression and completion outcomes
• Support workforce planning, capability development and educator performance
• Build and maintain relationships with community organisations, government agencies and industry stakeholders
• Ensure programs remain aligned to industry requirements and emerging workforce needs
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing team culture
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and educational innovation

The portfolio includes:

• Diploma of Community Services
• Certificate IV in Community Services
• Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs
• Alcohol and Other Drugs Skill Set programs
• Diploma of Youth Work
• Diploma of Justice
• Mental Health programs and related training initiatives

We are excited about you because you have:

• A minimum Diploma qualification in Community Services, Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Youth Work, Justice or a closely related discipline
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE)
• Demonstrated experience leading teams within education, training or community services environments
• Strong understanding of vocational education and training delivery
• Experience delivering training and assessment in classroom-based settings
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
• A commitment to student success and educational quality
• Strong planning, organisational and people leadership capability
• Experience within a community-based, government or not-for-profit environment will be highly regarded
• Current Working with Children Check and Police Check clearance
• Current Victorian Driver's Licence
