Restaurant Wait Staff

About the role

Monzarella Italian Restaurant is seeking a Restaurant Wait Staff member to join our team in Williamstown, VIC 3016. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to deliver exceptional customer service in a vibrant Italian dining environment. You will be the face of our restaurant, creating memorable experiences for our guests whilst ensuring smooth and efficient service. This role is pivotal in maintaining the high standards of hospitality that define Monzarella, directly contributing to guest satisfaction and restaurant success.

Key responsibilities

• Greeting guests warmly upon arrival and seating them according to restaurant layout and service rotation

• Presenting menus and providing knowledgeable recommendations about our Italian cuisine, wine list and specials

• Taking accurate food and beverage orders and entering them into the point-of-sale system

• Serving food and drinks promptly, professionally and in accordance with health and safety standards

• Monitoring tables throughout the dining experience to ensure guest satisfaction and promptly addressing any concerns

• Maintaining thorough knowledge of menu items, ingredients, allergens and preparation methods to assist guests with dietary requirements

• Processing payments and handling cash and card transactions accurately

• Clearing and resetting tables between services to maintain cleanliness and presentation standards

• Collaborating with kitchen and bar staff to ensure coordinated and efficient service

• Assisting with general restaurant duties including stocking supplies, restocking condiments and maintaining dining areas

• Adhering to all health, safety and food hygiene regulations

What we're looking for

• Previous experience in waiting, food service or hospitality roles, demonstrating proficiency in table service

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage guests and build rapport

• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

• Professional appearance and demeanour with a genuine passion for customer service excellence

• Knowledge of food and beverage service standards and dining etiquette

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and respond positively to feedback

• Physical capability to stand for extended periods and carry food and beverages safely

• Reliability and punctuality with a commitment to meeting shift schedules

• Basic numeracy skills for processing payments and handling cash

• A positive attitude and willingness to learn about Italian cuisine and wine
