Project Manager - Mining

About the role

Full Circle HCM is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of an established mining operation in Queensland. This is a senior site leadership position suited to an experienced mining professional with strong operational, commercial and people leadership capability.

The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for the safe, efficient and commercially successful delivery of a significant mining contract, leading the site-based management team and maintaining strong relationships with the client and key stakeholders.

This role requires a leader who is comfortable taking ownership of operational performance, financial outcomes, contractual obligations and workforce leadership. You will be expected to understand what is happening across the operation, identify issues early and ensure the project consistently delivers against its safety, production and commercial targets.

The position operates on a lifestyle FIFO/DIDO roster within Queensland.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and direction to the project and site management team

• Take accountability for the safe and successful delivery of mining operations

• Manage operational performance against contractual requirements, budgets and agreed targets

• Develop and implement project plans, operational strategies and performance objectives

• Monitor production, cost and workforce performance and address emerging issues

• Maintain strong relationships with the client and key internal and external stakeholders

• Lead project forecasting, budgeting, cost management and financial reporting

• Ensure contractual obligations, scope requirements and commercial commitments are understood and achieved

• Work closely with maintenance, HSE, commercial, HR and operational support functions

• Ensure appropriate workforce planning and resource allocation across the project

About you

• Minimum 5 years' experience in senior project or operational management within the mining industry

• Demonstrated experience leading a sizeable mining workforce and management team

• Strong leadership and people management capability

• Sound knowledge of mining operations, production and contract delivery

• Strong commercial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, costing and financial reporting

• Experience managing client relationships and contractual performance

• Strong understanding of safety and statutory requirements within mining operations

• Relevant mining qualifications and statutory competencies applicable to Queensland operations

• Demonstrated ability to manage competing operational priorities

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
