Build your experience while working flexibly around your lifestyle and commitments
Support fun, safe and inclusive programs for children, young people and families
$49.74 per hour (inclusive of a 25% casual loading) plus Super
Looking for casual work where you can make a real difference? Join our Youth and Children’s Programs team and help deliver fun, safe and inclusive activities for children, young people and families across Boroondara.
You’ll work in places like Kew Traffic School, the Boroondara Youth Hub and local community spaces, supporting programs that help young people learn, connect and get involved.
Shifts are available across a range of programs, events and community activities throughout the year, with opportunities during weekdays, evenings, school holidays and occasional weekends.
About the role
In this role, you’ll help plan and run educational, recreational and community activities that are engaging, accessible and child safe.
You’ll work with Council teams, schools, community groups, families and local services to create positive experiences and connect people with programs and support.
About you
You’re friendly, reliable and interested in working with children and young people. You may have experience through study, work, volunteering, teaching, sport, camps, childcare, youth programs or community activities.
You communicate well, stay organised and enjoy working in a team. You’re committed to inclusion, child safety and respectful behaviour, and can work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and school holidays when needed.
Key responsibilities
Help set up, deliver and pack down activities, programs and events for children, young people and families.
Welcome participants and support children, young people and families to engage in programs, activities and opportunities. Build positive relationships with young people, families, schools, community organisations and Council staff.
Follow Council procedures and support a safe, inclusive and respectful environment for everyone.

Employment Requirements
Experience, study or a demonstrated interest in working with children, young people, families or community programs.
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and school holiday periods when required.
Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check and hold a valid Working with Children Clearance.
