Partnering with education Institutions around Victoria, JB Education helps place Specialist Technicians in Victorian schools where they play a key role in providing customers with onsite, level 1 and 2 desktop support, basic server administration services and a high level of customer support. The Specialist Technician is a mid-advanced level role and the perfect opportunity for those looking to expand and grow their IT Skills and Experience.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide Service Desk Level 1 and Level 2 support as required in line with client needs and general desktop, hardware, software support and troubleshooting
• Assist school staff and students with their day-to-day technical needs and queries
• Maintain and support classroom technology including projectors, televisions, printers, speakers and other AV equipment
• Assist Specialist Technician in the execution and completion of assigned tasks through to resolution
• Providing local support for the Notebooks for Teachers and Principals Program
• Deployment of system images including packaging, building, testing and updating in live environments
• Contribution to the technical documents of the school
• Participate in on-site installation of the overall system(s), both hardware and software
• Provide basic server administration skills in areas such as password resets, printer queues, backup media and network services and any other responsibilities assigned by the Specialist Technician

We are looking for someone who is friendly, approachable and thrives in both autonomous and team environments. Who has a curious mindset towards problem solving and excellent customer service skills.

You will also ideally possess:

• A certificate IV in IT Systems Administration (or equivalent industry certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco), at minimum
• Strong foundation in networking concepts (VLAN, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP)

• Experience with virtualisation technologies, with a strong preference for Hyper-V; exposure to VMware and other platforms, highly regarded
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
• Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to manage issues through to resolution
• Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and general server administration
• Hands-on experience with hardware (servers, switches, wireless, firewalls), highly regarded
• Experience supporting end users, Service Desk environments, and BYOD setups
• Exposure to cloud platforms, MDM solutions, and device deployment (Windows, Apple, ChromeOS)
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
• A valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle are essential due to travel between sites
• Valid Victorian Working With Children Check (WWCC)
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within a fast-paced environment
• Previous experience working in schools or education environments is highly desirable
