Lending Associate | Pathway to Lending Specialist or Mortgage Broker

About the role

Yard is looking for a Lending Associate with some existing exposure to lending, banking or mortgage broking who wants to build a long-term career in lending. This is not a purely administrative loan processing role. You will work directly with customers and experienced lenders, gaining hands-on exposure to loan structuring, serviceability, credit assessment and deal progression. The role is designed as a pathway into a Lending Specialist or Mortgage Broker position within Yard.

Key responsibilities

• Speak with customers to understand their finance needs and objectives

• Assist with residential and commercial loan scenarios

• Review borrower income, liabilities, financial information and supporting documents

• Learn and apply serviceability requirements and lending policy

• Assist with loan structuring and lender selection

• Prepare and progress loan applications through credit and settlement

• Work with customers, lenders, brokers, credit teams and referral partners

• Follow up outstanding information and keep applications progressing

• Develop an understanding of credit risk and lending fundamentals

• Build strong relationships with customers and business partners

About you

• 1+ years' experience in lending, banking, mortgage broking support or a related financial services role

• Exposure to home loans, loan applications, credit assessment or lending policy

• Confidence speaking with customers and building relationships

• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

• Good numerical and analytical ability

• A proactive approach to learning and problem solving

• The ability to manage multiple applications and competing priorities

• A genuine interest in understanding how lending and credit decisions are made

• A willingness to take increasing ownership as your experience develops

• A Certificate IV or Diploma in Finance and Mortgage Broking is highly regarded, although practical lending experience, aptitude and attitude are more important
