The Opportunity
The Information Management team is responsible for the provision of information strategy, policy, advice and reporting, user support and the administration of electronic document and records management systems, and promoting the implementation of whole of government policies.

The Information Management Advisor administrates the agency’s records system and plays an important role in assisting managers and staff to understand their recordkeeping responsibilities, supports the lifecycle management of records with a strong focus on reporting, quality assurance and the resolution of complex issues. The role also contributes to planning, risk management and information discovery activities, in an environment with competing priorities and tight timeframes.

Role responsibilities

• Work under limited direction in relation to own tasks, lead and coordinate a range of activities to achieve individual and team work goals and deliverables
• Prepare and document all complex procedures, contribute to planning and risk management activities, identify business improvement opportunities and resolve complex problems 
• Provide high quality customer service and training of staff to support their understanding of legislation, policies, recordkeeping obligations, and the use of electronic document and records management systems
• Administer and maintain electronic document and records management systems, and support systems administration processes
• Develop, review and maintain documentation and contribute to policy and procedural reviews
• Work in collaboration with team members to coordinate electronic document and records management quality assurance reviews and make recommendations for improvements
• Undertake research, analysis, evaluate data and information, and support information discovery tasks
• Provide high quality advice and guidance to staff including the drafting of written briefs and reports
• Apply knowledge of relevant legislative requirements, including but not limited to the Archives Act 1983, Privacy Act 1988, Freedom of Information Act 1982, Australian Crime Commission Act 2002, and the Public Service Act 1999, information taxonomies and classification methodologies to the information management environment.

• Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to think strategically and coordinate the work of team members under limited direction to achieve own and team work goals and deliverables.
• Demonstrated ability to support technical and business-related change processes, work productively with stakeholders and contribute to planning and risk management.
• Demonstrated ability to administer and maintain electronic document and records management systems, manage all aspects of the records lifecycle, undertake quality assurance processes and recommend improvements.
• Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve complex problems, draft high quality reports, and undertake information discovery and reporting processes.
• Demonstrated ability to provide training support to staff and team members, and communicate effectively in written and oral communications.
• Knowledge of relevant legislative requirements, including but not limited to the Archives Act 1983, Privacy Act 1988, Freedom of Information Act 1982, Australian Crime Commission Act 2002, and the Public Service Act 1999, information taxonomies and classification methodologies, and how these apply to government information and records.

Eligibility

• Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the ACIC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
• Security Clearance - The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
