Senior Food Safety Technician

We're seeking an experienced Senior Food Safety Technician to join our Sydney Technical Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a food safety professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment and wants to play a key role in maintaining world-class food safety and quality standards.

About the Role

Reporting to the Site Technical Manager, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the site's Food Safety Management System while providing leadership, coaching and technical guidance to operational and hygiene teams.

This hands-on role combines technical expertise, problem solving and leadership to ensure our products consistently exceed customer expectations and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and continuously improve the site's Food Safety Management System (FSMS)
• Investigate non-conformances, conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
• Support internal and external audits including BRC, customer and regulatory audits
• Coach, mentor and develop Technical, Hygiene and Operations teams in GMP, HACCP, CCPs and quality standards
• Support New Product Development (NPD) trials and continuous improvement initiatives
• Coordinate environmental monitoring, product testing and supplier assurance activities
• Partner closely with Production to achieve operational excellence while maintaining food safety compliance
• Monitor customer complaints, quality trends and key performance indicators
• Drive a culture of food safety, quality and continuous improvement across the site

About You

You are passionate about food safety and enjoy influencing others to achieve high standards.

You will bring:

• Degree qualification in Food Science, Microbiology or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
• Experience in food manufacturing, preferably within FMCG
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, FSANZ, BRCGS and food safety systems
• Experience investigating quality issues and implementing corrective actions
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• High attention to detail and a proactive approach to continuous improvement
• Experience coaching and developing others is highly regarded.
