Goodwood Eye Centre – Where Clinical Excellence Meets a Caring Team Culture
Are you an Orthoptist or Optometrist looking to work in a supportive, close-knit practice where your skills truly make a difference? Goodwood Eye Centre is a well-established, single-doctor ophthalmology practice nestled in the inner southern suburbs of Adelaide — just 4km from the CBD and easily accessible by public transport. With over 15 years of delivering exceptional patient care, we pride ourselves on providing outstanding clinical services in a warm and caring environment.
We specialise in general ophthalmology and subspecialty areas including glaucoma, cataract, and medical retina, and we also run a monthly outreach clinic servicing Port Pirie and the surrounding region — meaning no two days are quite the same!
The Role
We're looking for a passionate and skilled Orthoptist or Optometrist to join our friendly team on either a part-time (minimum 3 days per week) or full-time basis, Monday to Friday. You'll work closely alongside our ophthalmologist as an integral part of the practice, contributing to outstanding patient outcomes every single day.
What You'll Be Doing
Running post-operative clinics, including subjective refraction and clinical management
Acting as medical triage for symptomatic patients contacting the clinic
Working as a medical technician — assessing visual acuity, IOP measurements, visual fields (Humphrey perimeter), OCT (Zeiss Cirrus), immersion/contact biometry, IOL Master, and assisting with intravitreal injections and minor oculoplastic procedures
Supporting the smooth flow of the clinic, particularly during busy periods
Handling general telephone queries and administrative duties
Participating in audits and management of surgical lists
Educating patients through verbal and written information about procedures and diagnostic tests
What We're Looking For
To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following minimum requirements:
Completed Bachelor of Vision Science / Master of Optometry or equivalent
Completed B. App. Sc (Orthoptics) / Master of Orthoptics
Current National Police Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
A team player with excellent communication skills and a professional phone manner
The ability to work both collaboratively and independently
Why You'll Love Working With Us
Competitive salary — we recognise and reward your expertise
Great team culture — we're a genuinely supportive and welcoming team who love what we do
Amazing location — surrounded by some of Adelaide's best cafes, so your lunch break will never disappoint
Meaningful work — be part of a practice that has been making a real difference to patients' lives for over 15 years
Flexible arrangements — part-time or full-time options available
If you're ready to take the next step in your career and join a practice that truly values its people, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and become part of the Goodwood Eye Centre family!
