Here’s What You’ll Be Up To…

As a Plant Operator – Driver, you will play a key role within the Civil Operations team, contributing to the effective delivery of public infrastructure and service outcomes across the City.

This Role Involves

Operating Council vehicles safely for the transport of personnel, equipment and materials in accordance with licence requirements and statutory obligationsConducting pre-start inspections, monitoring road and site conditions, and ensuring loads are secured in line with regulatory requirementsOperating plant, tools and equipment across a range of civil construction and maintenance activities, including undertaking routine checks and arranging repairs where requiredPerforming manual labouring duties associated with civil works, including construction, maintenance and cleansing activitiesSupporting traffic control activities and maintaining safe work siteDelivering high-quality customer service to internal stakeholders and the broader community, ensuring Council is represented positivelyMaintaining compliance with Council policies, relevant legislation and Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements at all times

The must-know bits

You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied.

Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, to progress through the recruitment process.

Requirements

Essential Criteria

A current Class MR or HR LicenceExperience in Civil Construction LabouringAbility to communicate effectivelyWork Safely in the Construction Industry (White) CardCurrent Traffic Controller card (Blue ticket) or willingness to obtainKnowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) work practices

Desirable

Tertiary qualification in Civil Construction or related areaPrevious experience in Local GovernmentExperience in operating plant and equipment
