Join Noosa Council as an Environmental Health Officer and help protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our community. In this varied role, you'll deliver environmental health and regulatory services across areas including food safety, compliance, licensing and public health. • $115,537 Total Remuneration Package which is based on a full-time employee and inclusive of 12% Employer superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading.

About You

You are an Environmental Health professional with experience applying public and environmental health legislation in a regulatory environment. You have strong investigative, analytical and communication skills, with the ability to conduct inspections, audits and compliance activities while providing practical advice to a range of stakeholders. Organised and adaptable, you can manage competing priorities and make sound, risk-based decisions. You are committed to delivering high-quality, customer-focused services that protect public health and support community wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver environmental health and regulatory services through inspections, investigations and compliance activities to protect public health and community wellbeing.
• Assess applications, licences, permits and approvals, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct food safety audits and monitor regulated businesses to support safe and compliant practices.
• Provide professional advice, respond to complaints and service requests, and work collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve positive regulatory outcomes.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated experience delivering environmental health and regulatory services, including inspections, investigations, compliance and food safety activities.
• Strong knowledge of environmental and public health legislation, with the ability to interpret and apply regulations, standards and policies to make sound, risk-based decisions.
• Well-developed analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to prepare technical reports, provide professional advice and effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities, work autonomously and maintain accurate records while delivering high-quality, customer-focused services.

Qualifications, Training & Licences

Essential

• Tertiary qualifications in Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent qualifications recognised by Environmental Health Australia (EHA), VETASSESS or the Branch Manager.
• Current Queensland “C” Class Driver Licence.
• Current Blue Card.

Desirable

• Postgraduate qualifications in Environmental Health or a related specialist discipline.
• Local Government Authorised Persons Asbestos Training Certificate.
• Food Safety Auditor training and/or accreditation.
