About the RoleThe University of Wollongong is seeking an outstanding researcher to join the ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre in Energy Technologies for Future Grids (Future Grids ITTC) as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Energy Transmission. This role will contribute to cutting-edge research and development focused on future transmission networks, renewable energy integration, energy storage systems, and emerging grid technologies that support Australia's transition to a clean energy future. Working closely with leading academics and industry partners, you will help deliver innovative solutions with real-world impact across the energy sector.
Key responsibilities:Conduct high-quality research in power transmission, renewable energy integration and future grid technologies, delivering outcomes through publications, reports and industry engagement.Develop, test and validate advanced modelling, control and analysis techniques for large-scale power systems and industrial applications.Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with industry partners, electricity utilities, research organisations and international collaborators.Mentor undergraduate, postgraduate and Higher Degree Research students and support laboratory-based research activities.
About the TeamThis position sits within the ARC Future Grids Industrial Transformation Training Centre in the School of Engineering at UOW. The Centre brings together world-leading researchers, industry partners and government stakeholders to develop the technologies, skills and workforce required to transform Australia's future energy networks. You will work alongside distinguished academics, industry experts and research students in a highly collaborative and innovative environment.
What You'll BringA PhD in Electrical Engineering with a specialisation in energy transmission, power systems, renewable energy integration or a closely related field.Demonstrated experience in power system modelling and analysis using tools such as PSS®E, PSCAD and/or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.Proven experience in large-scale renewable energy, energy storage or transmission network projects, including integration into power systems.Strong research and problem-solving capability, with the ability to contribute to industry-focused research and development projects.Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to engage effectively with academic, industry and government stakeholders.
