We are seeking a suitable leader to support and drive our northern Asphalt & Sealing operations that can both maintain existing trusted customer relationships and to build our future base to sustain repeat work. This will not be at the expense of either quality or safety as our brand is our reputation.
This full-time position is in the Asphalt & Sealing team of Crossroads. Crossroads is a division of Hazell Bros and provides an integrated end-to-end surfacing solution - from asphalt manufacture through to placement on the ground.
The ROLEEstablish project budgets and cost controls, managing variations, progress claims and contract adjustments efficientlyDirectly reviews, verifies and approves technical documentation to ensure compliance with relevant standards and specificationsMentors and manages direct reports with clear performance expectations, fostering a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary teamUndertakes workforce and resource planning to manage workload peaks, optimise site operations and minimise downtimeActs as the senior operational point of contact for clients building trust through transparency, responsiveness and predictable deliveryCoordinates and drives tendering function with input from the Surfacing Manager and other relevant stakeholdersOversees the Quality Management System (QMS) execution, in line with HB governance frameworks, industry standards, client requirements and best practice operational guidelinesEnsures plant and equipment readiness through maintenance scheduling alignment, pre-start inspection discipline and defect rectification prioritisationManages performance and conduct matters in line with policy, including addressing behaviours that compromise safety, quality or cultureEnsures all active projects are compliant, safe and delivered to the highest possible standard

About YOU Demonstrated ability to nurture existing client relationships while building a future project pipeline to ensure repeat businessBachelor's degree in civil engineering or related discipline is preferred. Alternatively, equivalent demonstrated industry experience at a senior operational level7+ years' experience in asphalt, spray sealing, pavements, surfacing with at least 3 years in a senior leadership capacityStrong experience in end-to-end project delivery across multiple concurrent jobsProven ability to embed strict safety practices across active construction sites, asphalt operations and technical environmentsPractical knowledge of regulatory governance, legislative requirements, codes of practice and compliance requirementExcellent communication skills both written and verbal to effectively work with customers, colleagues and managementGood understanding of Microsoft Office software including Microsoft Project
