Crew Member - Open Space Assets

We're looking for a Crew Member – Open Space Assets to join our Parks Services team and help keep Glen Eira's parks, playgrounds and community spaces safe, functional and looking their best.

Whether you're helping maintain playgrounds, inspecting park assets, carrying out repairs and maintenance, or keeping community facilities in top condition, you'll play an important role in creating spaces that our community uses and enjoys every day.

If you enjoy practical work, take pride in a job well done, don’t mind getting your hands dirty from time to time and spending most of your days out in the fresh air, this could be the role for you

What You'll Be Doing

• Assist in maintaining open spaces and associated park assets to specified standards.
• Inspect and maintain playgrounds and park infrastructure.
• Carry out minor repairs and preventative maintenance activities.
• Maintain park furniture, fencing, BBQs, drinking fountains, dog bag dispensers and recreation facilities.
• Complete work documentation using mobile and electronic recording systems.
• Operate and maintain tools, machinery and equipment safely and effectively.
• Report defects, damage and maintenance requirements.
• Provide courteous assistance to members of the public.

Parks Services is responsible for maintaining and improving some of Glen Eira's most valued community assets. From sportsgrounds, playgrounds and parks to trees, biodiversity and public open space, our teams help create places where the community can play, connect and thrive.

Our Open Space Assets team helps ensure these community assets remain safe, functional and enjoyable for everyone.

About You
You are someone who enjoys practical outdoor work, takes pride in community spaces and works well as part of a team.

You will bring:

• Relevant qualification and/or experience in parks, landscaping, turf management, horticulture or a related field.
• Experience with safe operation and maintenance of plant and equipment.
• Ability to use basic mobile technology and asset management systems.
• Commitment to Council values and safety practices.
• Medium Rigid Licence and Agricultural Chemical Users Certificate is desirable.
• Current Victorian Drivers License
