Boutique Lawyers also advises on contract law, planning, insurancr law and property law, offering clients value, certainty, and tailored legal solutions. Team members work closely with a diverse client base across the construction and property sectors, gaining exposure to complex and high-impact matters.Role Description This is a full-time Building and Construction Lawyer role based in Melbourne, VIC, with a hybrid working arrangement that allows some work from home. The lawyer will handle a mix of advisory and contentious matters, including drafting and reviewing building contracts, advising on planning and property issues, and managing building and construction disputes. Day-to-day responsibilities include meeting with clients, assessing legal risks, preparing correspondence and court documents, negotiating settlements, and appearing at tribunals or courts as required. The role also involves collaborating with colleagues to develop case strategies, maintaining accurate file records, and staying current with relevant legislation and industry developments. The successful candidate will contribute to a client-focused practice culture, ensuring efficient, high-quality service delivery and clear communication at all stages.Qualifications Admission as a lawyer in Australia and a current Australian practicing certificate (or eligibility to obtain one).Experience in building and construction law, with exposure to contract, planning, and property matters.Strong skills in legal research, analysis, and problem-solving, with the ability to interpret complex legislation and case law.Proficiency in drafting and reviewing contracts, pleadings, advice letters, and other legal documents.Effective advocacy, negotiation, and dispute resolution skills, including experience in tribunals or courts.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal issues clearly to clients from diverse backgrounds.Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.Comfort with hybrid work arrangements, ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and commitment to professional ethics and client service.Experience in a boutique or specialist firm and familiarity with Victorian building, planning, and property regulations are advantageous.
