Senior System Engineer

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join a Defence sustainment and capability enhancement program based in Canberra.
Role Purpose
The Systems Engineer is responsible for the application of disciplined systems engineering practices and the provision of formal engineering advice within a Defence sustainment and capability enhancement program. The role exercises delegated engineering authority, supports technical risk management, and contributes to the governance of engineering deliverables across the contract.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, manage and maintain the engineering documentation suite for the programProvide formal engineering advice on product engineering activities across relevant contractsExercise engineering delegation as issued by the Chief Engineer, including the maintenance and update of technical risk recordsSupport the engineering team's activities and contribute to the ongoing professional development of team membersCollaborate across the broader product team to provide engineering input across discipline streamsReview contract deliverables and provide engineering feedback to support capability implementationOrganise and coordinate technical workshops with the engineering teamMaintain engineering process compliance with the relevant Quality Management SystemUndertake tasks as directed by the Engineering Manager
Skills and Experience
Experience with the One Defence Capability System (ODCS)Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholdersExperience in leadership or management roles, with a demonstrated ability to coach and guide teams through strategy and changeExperience with the ASDEFCON suite
Qualifications
Chartered Professional Engineer with a registered professional engineering body (such as Engineers Australia), or able to attain chartered statusTertiary qualification in Systems Engineering, or equivalent demonstrated experience
Desirable Attributes
Prior experience within a Defence engineering or sustainment environmentFamiliarity with Commonwealth engineering governance and delegation frameworksAustralian citizenship, with a current security clearance at the requisite level
