Division summary

The Prevention Division aims to prevent cancer for all Victorians. This is done through community interventions, mass media, advocacy, training and providing policy advice based on the best available evidence. This involves action to affect individual behaviours and the broader physical and legislative environment to reduce cancer risk. We prioritise health inequalities, especially in relation to Aboriginal people, and in culturally diverse and socioeconomically disadvantaged communities.

Unit summary

SunSmart is an evidence-based internationally renowned skin cancer prevention program, which aims to improve skin cancer prevention awareness, knowledge, attitudes and behaviour; support early detection of skin cancers; and advocate for policy and other measures to reduce the health and economic burdens of skin cancer.

We are seeking a SunSmart Workplace Lead to join the Prevention Division. Reporting to the SunSmart Programs Manager your role is to:

• Lead the successful planning, implementation, evaluation and provision of education (including the UV Safety Training Program) and policy support for the SunSmart Workplace Program.
• Develop innovative training and education strategies to enhance the capacity of workplaces, industry groups and health and safety professionals to address UV protection.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders including government, WorkSafe, industry bodies, unions and employer groups.
• Drive growth and engagement of the workplace program, particularly with regional Victorian audiences.
• Provide policy support and technical advice to improve UV protection practices across Victorian workplaces.

We are looking for a collaborative and influential professional who is committed to workplace health and safety and enjoys building effective partnerships that lead to better health outcomes for workers. We are looking for someone with:

• Excellent stakeholder management skills, including the ability to develop, maintain and lead strong collaborative partnerships with diverse organisations and groups.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly to professional and community audiences.
• Proven organisational skills, sound judgement and the ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within deadlines.
• Experience leading, delivering or evaluating health promotion, education or workplace-based programs.
• Relevant qualifications in public health, health promotion or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Salary: $89,299 to $98,632 base salary per annum (pro rata for part-time), commensurate with experience, plus 12% superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading.
• Not-for-profit salary packaging benefits: Increase your take-home pay by paying certain expenses using your pre-tax salary — up to $15,900 in living expenses plus $2,650 in meals and entertainment annually.
