Here’s What You’ll Be Up To…

Assess and inspect Council’s public trees, providing expert advice on risk management, maintenance, protection and renewal. Manage customer enquiries and provide practical, evidence-based recommendations that balance community needs, public safety and environmental outcomes. Support development projects and public domain works through specialist arboriculture advice and technical expertise. Maintain tree asset data, prepare technical reports and help deliver tree maintenance, renewal and continuous improvement programs across the City.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who is passionate about arboriculture and motivated to make a positive impact on the management of public tree assets.

You Will Bring

Extensive experience conducting tree inspections and risk assessments, with strong technical arboriculture knowledge.Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and confidently.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, combined with sound judgement and attention to detail.A collaborative and proactive approach, with the ability to build positive relationships across a range of stakeholders.A commitment to continuous improvement and delivering positive outcomes for the community and environment

The must-know bits

You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied.

Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, to progress through the recruitment process.

Requirements

Essential criteria

Minimum AQF Level 5 qualification in Arboriculture.Current Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) or Quantified Tree Risk Assessment (QTRA) certification.Demonstrated experience conducting tree risk assessments and inspections across public land, with a sound understanding of risk-based methodologies.Demonstrated experience in the preparation of technical arborist reports, including assessments to support remedial works, risk mitigation and recommendations for tree removal or retention.Strong communication skills with the ability to provide specialist advice to stakeholders, respond to community enquiries, and contribute to reports.Demonstrated ability to critically assess landscape and civil construction plans to identify potential conflicts, opportunities and risks associated with existing or proposed tree assetsA current Class C Driver Licence.
