Powering Skills Organisation is a Jobs and Skills Council for the Energy, Gas and Renewables sector funded by the Australian Government and managed by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.

We are one of ten Jobs & Skills Councils established to address skills shortages and training structures. At Powering Skills Organisation our focus is across the energy sector, focusing on electricity, renewables and gas.

About the role

We’re looking for a sharp strategic thinker who can navigate government, policy and stakeholder landscapes with confidence—and turn complex issues into clear, compelling action.

As Senior Manager, Government Relations, you’ll be at the intersection of government, industry, policy and the future of jobs and skills. Reporting to the Director, Industry Engagement, you’ll help shape how PSO engages with government and regulators across Federal, State and Local jurisdictions.

About You

• You’re an experienced government relations, public affairs or policy professional who understands that influence is built on credibility, relationships and knowing your brief.
• Significant experience in government relations, policy or public affairs, ideally within corporate, public sector or industry representative environments.
• A strong understanding of government processes, policy development and political environments.
• A proven ability to build relationships with senior government and regulatory stakeholders
• Exceptional writing and briefing skills.
• Strong analytical, project management and risk-management capabilities.
• The ability to lead diverse teams and bring people together around a common objective.
• Confidence presenting to senior stakeholders and representing an organisation externally.
• A strategic mindset, commercial nous and the ability to connect research and evidence with action.
